The SIM Team Excellence Award was created to recognize exceptional technology Teams that demonstrate leadership, innovation, measurable impact, and cross-functional collaboration. Unlike awards that focus solely on individuals, this program celebrates the Team behind the results.

This is a Chapter-led program. We encourage interested participants to first connect with their local SIM Chapter leadership to determine the level of participation.

If your Chapter is not participating, Teams may self-nominate directly through SIM National.

Program Purpose

  • Recognizes outstanding technology Teams delivering meaningful business impact
  • Highlights strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration
  • Promotes innovation and disciplined execution
  • Encourages sharing of lessons learned that benefit the broader SIM community

This award shines a spotlight on the value technology Teams bring to their organizations and communities.

2026 TEAM EXCELLENCE AWARDS

Everything You Need to Know

  • Large Organizations ($1B+ revenue)
  • Mid-Size Organizations ($250M–$1B)
  • Small Organizations (Under $250M)
  • Not-for-Profit Organizations
  • Public Sector Organizations

Consider nominating a team that, within the past two years, has:

  • Delivered a significant program, application, platform, or transformation
  • Achieved measurable business, operational, customer, or societal impact
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration
  • Produced lessons that could benefit other organizations

We are especially interested in work that demonstrates clear, measurable outcomes. 

Use the Nomination Reflection & Planning Worksheet to review your organization’s performance over the past two years and identify work worthy of recognition.

The worksheet:

  • Helps Teams collect their ideas
  • Aligns with the evaluation criteria
  • Is optional and not scored
  • Designed to simplify the formal nomination process

  1. Value Creation (0–40 points): Demonstrated measurable business, operational, financial, or societal impact.
  2. Innovation & Collaboration (0–30 points): Creative approaches, effective execution, and cross-functional partnership.
  3. Change Leadership (0–20 points): Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and Team enablement.
  4. Community Impact (0–10 points): Contribution to organizational culture, capability building, or broader professional community.  

  • Three finalists selected per segment
  • All finalists invited to the SIM TechExec Conference
  • One national winner announced per segment at TechExec

This is an opportunity to celebrate excellence on a national stage. 

We are seeking volunteer Evaluators for each award segment.

  • Commitment: Approximately 1 hour per week
  • Timeline: August 1 – September 30
  • Opportunity to review outstanding work across the SIM community
