About the SIM Foundation

The SIM Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the SIM community — investing in programs, partnerships, and people that expand access to technology education and career pathways. Through national and chapter-level engagement, members turn leadership into lasting impact for students, educators, and the communities they care about.

Each year, the SIM community gives more than $1.5 million to STEM-focused nonprofits, supporting scholarships, educational advancement, and technology access nationwide.

Giving back is part of SIM's DNA. Members don't just lead the technology community — they invest in its future.

Driving Impact Through Partnership

We believe that the most sustainable impact happens when an entire professional community — not just a single donor — decides to invest in the next generation.

Explore STEM Outreach

Through partnership with organizations like FIRST® and NPower, SIM members have opportunities to:

  • Mentor and inspire the next generation of technologists
  • Support underserved communities in accessing STEM education
  • Contribute time, talent, and resources to meaningful programs

Helping Chapters Turn Purpose Into Action

The SIM Foundation provides a structured framework that allows chapters to collect tax-deductible donations and distribute them locally to causes that matter most.

The SIM Foundation has a structure in place that allows chapters to collect tax-deductible 501c3 donations and distribute them locally, without the overhead of creating a separate non-profit entity. This service is provided at no cost to chapters, and 100% of the funds collected go directly to the community.

The SIM Foundation raises funds annually, primarily through two key events: the SIM TechExec Conference and the online auction held in conjunction with the conference.

The SIM Foundation has strategic partnerships with NPower and FIRST, offering chapters exciting opportunities to engage with these impactful non-profits. If your chapter is interested in getting involved, the SIM Foundation can provide guidance on how to collaborate effectively and connect you with local contacts.

SIM Foundation tracks the time and money donated to non-profits annually through a web form that is regularly distributed to Chapter Outreach Chairs. If you want to receive a link to the form, please reach out to the SIM Foundation staff.

Since 2021, the SIM Foundation has offered matching grants to chapters. The application period typically runs from January to April. If you're interested in applying, please reach out to the SIM Foundation staff for more information and assistance.

The SIM Foundation can connect chapters hosting similar events, facilitating knowledge sharing and collaboration. We have compiled a chapter playbook for golf events and a playbook for Summit events which are available to assist with planning and execution.

Bourbon Trail Enclave®

The Bourbon Trail Enclave is an exclusive VIP event for top-level decision-makers, designed to create a unique experience, generate interest in SIM membership, and raise funds for STEM education and other initiatives. As a 501c3 nonprofit, the SIM Foundation amplifies philanthropy nationwide, focusing on STEM education while empowering local SIM chapters to support community causes.
