SIM to File "Friend of the Court" Brief on RIM - BlackBerry TM Patent Case

The Society for Information Management is working to file an Amicus Brief with the Federal Court hearing the Research In Motion/NTP Inc. Patent Case. The SIM request is for the judge to consider the implications of any ruling to business users of this technology, and to provide for adequate implementation of any ruling.

It is important to note that SIM has no opinion on the legalities of the case or any ruling that might come to bear through this process. It is SIM's opinion that an injunction that does not allow Blackberry™ users adequate time to evaluate alternative IT arrangements would have a deleterious and disruptive effect on private sector operations.
